Linda is the youngest of ten children and met Bret in college. Linda has her Masters in speech pathology and specializes in the unique needs of preschool aged children. On a flight from Orange County to San Francisco Bret showed Linda a magazine article of an everyday family who planted their own vineyard and started a winery. Once this seed was planted in Linda’s mind she was always looking for an opportunity to pursue this dream of living and working the land. Growing up near the southern California beaches she loves the ocean and was pleased to find a vineyard location not too far from the coast.

Bret graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a degree in Landscape Architecture and works in the private sector as a Planner, specializing in mapping and GIS technology. An avid outdoorsman, Bret enjoys designing and building projects on the property and translates his formal planning into the physical sense on our forty acres. He loves working outside and gains tremendous satisfaction from farming the vineyard. Our property is literally his canvas.

Darrel is also an avid outdoorsman who loves to fish and enjoys playing bluegrass music with a local band. He originally worked in sales, until his sister Linda and brother in law Bret proposed a lifestyle change to farming and “living on some land“. A partnership was born and upon relocating to Paso Robles, Darrel was able to find employment in the vineyard industry and is now a vineyard manager not only for Sunset Ridge Vineyards but also the large award-winning vineyard of Red Head Ranch
